Carbon Dioxide Hydrogenation to Formic Acid with Self?Separating Product and Recyclable Catalyst Phase

چکیده
The homogeneously catalyzed hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to formic acid is a promising route for utilization and power-to-X concepts. Separation the product catalyst under retention performance remains major challenge, however. Herein, we present Ru-phosphine reaction system comprising only hydrophobic solvent as phase N-methyldiethanolamine base. formation causes spontaneous separation monophasic mixture into pure acid/amine recyclable phase. By optimizing conditions, turnover number 1590 in single total 5590 after four recycling runs were achieved.

Direct synthesis of formic acid from carbon dioxide by hydrogenation in acidic media
The chemical transformation of carbon dioxide into useful products becomes increasingly important as CO2 levels in the atmosphere continue to rise as a consequence of human activities. In this article we describe the direct hydrogenation of CO2 into formic acid using a homogeneous ruthenium catalyst, in aqueous solution and in dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO), without any additives. In water, at 40 °...
متن کاملProduct selectivity in plasmonic photocatalysis for carbon dioxide hydrogenation
Photocatalysis has not found widespread industrial adoption, in spite of decades of active research, because the challenges associated with catalyst illumination and turnover outweigh the touted advantages of replacing heat with light. A demonstration that light can control product selectivity in complex chemical reactions could prove to be transformative. Here, we show how the recently demonst...
متن کاملA recyclable nanoparticle-supported rhodium catalyst for hydrogenation reactions.
Catalytic hydrogenation under mild conditions of olefins, unsaturated aldeydes and ketones, nitriles and nitroarenes was investigated, using a supported rhodium complex obtained by copolymerization of Rh(cod)(aaema) [cod: 1,5-cyclooctadiene, aaema-: deprotonated form of 2-(acetoacetoxy)ethyl methacrylate] with acrylamides. In particular, the hydrogenation reaction of halonitroarenes was carried...
